Sight of van full of illegals convinces Arizona writer that Homeland Security is a "joke"
This morning when XXXXX, her dogs & I went out for our morning run in the desert, out behind our house, we witnessed a pick up.
The high desert in this corner of Cochise County AZ is covered in grass, scrub, and mesquite trees. There are numerous washes and gullies. My dogs don’t bark gratuitously so it is easy for us to slip quietly around without being seen.
XXXXX alerted me to the fact that someone was out there. I stopped and looked in the direction she was looking. Close to the bottom of a wash I saw a midnight blue commercial van with darkly tinted windows. The back cargo doors were open and two Anglo men were packing in about 20 Hispanic or Middle Eastern men, way too many for the vehicle. It was reminiscent of the black and white films of the cattle cars of Nazi Germany in WWII. I stepped back behind a mesquite tree and continued to watch until all of the illegals were stowed in the van and the drivers had gotten in the front and started the engine. I quickly left the area and raced to the top of the mound, a point of high ground where I could see for miles around, and watched the van make its way along the dirt roads and disappear into the Canyon del Flores subdivision.
As the dogs and I quit the desert and headed home I thought what a joke Homeland Security is. All the energy they publicly puts into inadequately checking cargo containers coming into our nation’s ports and the inconvenience they unproductively put our air travelers through. The meaningless public posturing they make and billions of dollars they waste when our border is wide open and thousands of illegal aliens from all over the world filter through this county alone with impunity.
My friends in the border patrol tell me about the large number of middle easterners who come through our county and in frustration say the number who get through undetected is probably 50 times more than the ones they catch. They talk about the increasing number of dangerous Mexican criminals and gang members moving north to escape legal retribution in their own country and to prey on their fellow citizens who live and work illegally in this country.
I thought about the people crossing the border within miles of my home and my child, carrying diseases we have no ability to diagnose or treat. The CDC doesn’t like to talk about it, but there is a rising level of diseases previously unheard of in the United States approaching epidemic proportions.
As we turned into our street towards home I thought what a joke Homeland Security is. It is like the band on the Titanic playing “Nearer My God to Thee” while the ship of state slowly inexorably slips under the relentless waves of illegal aliens.
Sincerely,
