Please read this letter in its entirety. You will learn things that you may never read elsewhere because it contains confidential information given to me by people in Congress, the INS and our activists across the country. I have been Chairman of the U.S. Border Control for many years and I am not the type of person that tends towards hysteria or exaggeration. I am not one to “push the panic button.” But everything I am seeing tells me that America is at a critical point in its history.
A few weeks ago, I attended a population conference where, privately, the leaders of some very well-known organizations, were speaking of the United States in the past tense. As far as they were concerned, it is already over. The decline and fall of this country is well underway and there is precious little anybody can do about it.
People whose names you would recognize were saying things like “America had a good run. The collapse was inevitable. After all, how long can any form of government last.”
These folks were giving last rites to our country and they were deadly serious.
They see widespread corruption within our government. They see how our politicians are giving away citizenship, welfare, housing and free medical attention to anyone who may vote for them. And they feel there is no way to overcome the greed of our elected officials.
Indeed, the two front runners from both major parties, George Bush and Al Gore, are shamelessly pandering to Hispanic immigrants; attending rallies sponsored by La Raza, and speaking in Spanish to people who hate our country, our language and our culture.
Governor George Bush proudly declares that a Prop 187-type law would never happen in his state. Yet, in his state, the first town in America has declared Spanish its official language, became a safe haven for illegals, and the Mayor, a former illegal alien, threatens to fire anyone in his administration who helps the INS!
And Vice President Gore betrayed all of his environmental principles when he used “Citizenship USA” to register a million new immigrant voters in time for ’96 election.
Every day, another politician proudly goes to the podium to announce another amnesty program for yet another group of people who have absolutely no legitimate reason to be allowed into this country. Frankly, in another time and another era, these politicians would be branded as traitors for undermining the sovereignty of this nation for their own personal gain.
The INS is now routinely releasing illegal aliens with criminal records so long as they are not considered a “threat to society.” In other words, not only are they overlooking the CRIME of illegal entry into the United States, they are now overlooking the second and third crimes of these illegal aliens, as long as they have not murdered somebody recently.
Of course, the INS has no access to the criminal records of illegal aliens so they really have no way of knowing whether they are, in fact, releasing murderers, rapists or even terrorists into our midst.
Two years ago, Congress passed legislation calling for a bilateral prisoner exchange treaty empowering our state department to negotiate with the Mexican government to take back criminals charged and convicted in our country and make them serve their sentences in Mexican jails.
But President Clinton told his state department to ignore this legislation. He did not want to do anything to upset his neighbor to the South or his utopian dreams to create a hemispheric free trade zone.
As a consequence, our prisons are filled to overflowing with criminal aliens who have absolutely no fear of our criminal justice system. There is no room for American criminals in our jails and, as a result, our revolving door justice system is turning hardened criminals loose at a terrifying rate.
Whether they are violent criminals or not, illegal aliens pose a serious threat to our society by their mere presence. They are here illegally which means they had no health inspections and, in many cases, are carrying a variety of diseases for which most Americans have no immunity. Doesn’t this count as a threat to society?
Illegals have reopened the door to slave labor, child labor, and sweat shops. Young illegals are being forced into prostitution to pay for their passage. They are creating a huge underclass in our society which, throughout history, has served as the breeding ground for criminals and revolutionaries. Can this be good for our society?
As illegal aliens sneak into America through our National Parks, they have caused massive forest fires and leave tons of debris and garbage in our otherwise pristine National Forests. Doesn’t this harm all of us?
And this is just what the illegals are doing!
On the “legal” side of the equation, high tech companies like Microsoft and Cypress Semiconductor have literally bought and paid for Congressmen and Senators who now vote to allow these companies to import programmers from India, Pakistan and Asia because America supposedly has a shortage of computer programmers.
This, of course, is a lie, but nobody seems to care, except, of course, for the jobless American programmers, since everybody else has been paid off handsomely.
And what do these high tech firms do with these young foreign programmers after they wise up and discover they are being terribly underpaid? They lay them off and get the Congress to grant them new visa waivers so they can get more cheap programmers from offshore.
And what happens to the tens of thousands of Indians, Pakistanis and Asian programmers they fire? Do they pack their bags and go home? Not on your life. They are here to stay and since they are unemployed, they get in line to get the food stamps, the welfare, the free medical attention, the subsidized housing, etc... that you and I are providing for them.
Let me point out that I do not blame the Indians, Pakistanis, Asians, Mexicans, Haitians, Chinese or anybody else for wanting to come to America.
For the most part, these are good people trying to better their lot in life. I blame our government. I blame our elected Congressmen and Senators and Governors for their greed, their lust for power, and their willingness to betray the American people, merely to remain in office.
In addition to being greedy, many of our politicians are simply stupid. The Republicans are so stupid they are supporting statehood for Puerto Rico even though it is guaranteed there will be seven new Democrat Congressmen and two new Democrat Senators the day after statehood is passed.
So why are Republicans supporting statehood? Because their pollsters tell them that if they go against statehood, they will lose the Hispanic vote. In fact, the legitimate Hispanic vote in America was already Republican and opposed illegal immigration as much as non-Hispanics, according to a poll conducted by a prominent Hispanic news service.
But Republicans listen to their pollsters and so, they are competing, head to head, with the Democrats for the illegal alien vote, and for new immigrants in need of social services. And they will certainly lose that competition.
Each day, my email box is filled with frustrated citizens who tell me the INS is not interested in taking their reports about illegal aliens, smugglers, companies hiring illegals, fraudulent marriages, student visa scams or a host of other techniques to get non-citizens into this country and onto the welfare rolls.
They ask me why the INS will not act. How can I tell them the INS has put enforcement on the back burner and is interested only in speeding up the naturalization process to bring people into this country as fast as it can?
All of this, of course, begs the question, "Where the Hell have you been?" There is enough red meat here to choke a wolverine. This is, perhaps, the greatest scandal of the Millenium and you folks have been content with running bleeding heart stories about some poor illegal immigrant who has worked his fingers to the bone and, after twenty years, happens to be the one illegal the INS discovered and has decided to deport.
With respect, you guys are missing the big story here and I beg you to get out there and earn your pay, if not a Pulitzer, for exposing the the greed and corruption that is precipitating the decline and fall of our wonderful country.
After all, isn't this why we have a First Amendment and aren't you guys the watchdogs who are supposed to be protecting our society from things like this?
